El gobierno de Carlos Joaqu\u00edn exhorta a continuar de manera conjunta, sociedad y gobierno, con la protecci\u00f3n\u00a0 de los quelonios<\/p>\n

Este 21 de febrero se cumplen 19 a\u00f1os de que X\u00b4cacel-X\u00b4cacelito se convirtieran en\u00a0 Reserva Estatal \u201cSantuario de la Tortuga Marina\u201d; el gobierno de Carlos Joaqu\u00edn exhorta a continuar de manera conjunta, sociedad y gobierno, con la protecci\u00f3n\u00a0 de los quelonios que anidan en esta joya natural que durante casi dos d\u00e9cadas ha propiciado la conservaci\u00f3n de las especies caguama<\/em> y blanca, <\/em>mencion\u00f3 al respecto el titular de SEMA Alfredo Arellano.<\/p>\n

Arellano, secretario de Ecolog\u00eda y Medio Ambiente (SEMA) \u2013dijo-\u00a0 que la tendencia de anidaci\u00f3n de tortugas marinas va en aumento; para la tortuga caguama Caretta caretta <\/em>la tendencia es de incrementarse, mientras que la poblaci\u00f3n de hembras anidadoras para la tortuga blanca Chelonia mydas <\/em>se mantiene con un comportamiento de crecimiento bianual en los dos \u00faltimos a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

Desde 1998 se decret\u00f3 \u00c1rea Natural Protegida con la categor\u00eda de Zona Sujeta a Conservaci\u00f3n Ecol\u00f3gica \u201cSantuario de la Tortuga Marina Xcacel-Xcacelito\u201d. Se ubica en el municipio de Tulum, tiene una superficie de 362 hect\u00e1reas de selva y playas donde se encuentran manglares, cenotes y arrecifes coralinos.<\/p>\n

Tiene playas anchas de m\u00e1s de 15 metros, posee tipos de vegetaci\u00f3n con alg\u00fan estatus de protecci\u00f3n como es la selva de palma kuk\u00e1 (Pseudophoenix sargentti), la selva de palmas chit (Thrinax radiata) y los ecosistemas de manglar (mangle rojo Rhizophora mangle, mangle negro Avicennia germinans, mangle blanco Laguncularia racemosa y botoncillo Conocarpus erectus)<\/p>\n

Posee como caracter\u00edstica peculiar afloramientos de agua subterr\u00e1nea a la orilla del mar, que propicia condiciones muy particulares para el crecimiento de vegetaci\u00f3n acu\u00e1tica, abundancia en peces juveniles y corales, algunos considerados como especies amenazadas.\u00a0Se encuentran 64 especies de corales en el \u00e1rea, 3 tiene un estatus de protecci\u00f3n especial. Los cuales son: Plexaura homomalla, Acrophora palmata y\u00a0 Acrophora cervicornis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
