Fue el \u00fanico destino nacional que figur\u00f3 en la lista internacional, compartiendo cr\u00e9ditos con Baia do Sancho, en Brasil; Grace Bay, en Islas Turcas y Caicos e Eagle Beach, en Aruba, que ocuparon las tres primeras posiciones del ranking mundial. En este mismo certamen Playa del Carmen ocup\u00f3 la posici\u00f3n 20 del Top 25 mundial de los destinos m\u00e1s populares del orbe, siendo el \u00fanico punto de atracci\u00f3n nacional en la lista. El polo caribe\u00f1o tambi\u00e9n se coloc\u00f3 en el primer sitio de preferencia de los 10 destinos nacionales preferidos, junto con Tulum, en cuarta posici\u00f3n, Cozumel en quinta y Canc\u00fan
