La Asociaci\u00f3n de Transporte A\u00e9reo Internacional ha anunciado que Goh Choon Phong, consejero delegado de Singapore Airlines, ha sido nombrado presidente del Consejo de Gobierno de la IATA, cargo que ejercer\u00e1 durante un a\u00f1o a partir de la clausura de la 73a Asamblea General Anual (AGM), que se celebra en Canc\u00fan, M\u00e9xico. Goh es el 76o presidente del Consejo de Gobierno de la IATA y el tercer consejero delegado deSingapore Airlines que ostenta este cargo.<\/p>\n

Goh releva a Willie Walsh, consejero delegado de International Airlines Group. Walsh seguir\u00e1 formando parte del Consejo de Gobierno y del Comit\u00e9 Ejecutivo de la IATA.<\/p>\n

\u201cEs un honor asumir el cargo de presidente de la IATA durante la pr\u00f3xima legislatura. La industria est\u00e1 generando beneficios; sin embargo, esta rentabilidad no se distribuye de manera uniforme. La seguridad es la m\u00e1xima prioridad de la Asociaci\u00f3n. Necesitamos estrechar la cooperaci\u00f3n con los gobiernos para luchar contra las numerosas amenazas emergentes. El Plan de compensaci\u00f3n y reducci\u00f3n de carbono para la aviaci\u00f3n internacional (CORSIA), la modernizaci\u00f3n de los procesos de carga y la expansi\u00f3n de las transacciones con la Nueva Capacidad de Distribuci\u00f3n ocupar\u00e1n tambi\u00e9n un lugar destacado durante mi mandato. Tenemos mucho trabajo por delante. Estoy deseando comenzar a trabajar con Alexandre y su equipo para dirigir y servir a la industria a\u00e9rea\u00bb, dijo Goh.<\/p>\n

Goh se uni\u00f3 a Singapore Airlines en 1990, donde ocup\u00f3 cargos directivos \u2012dentro y fuera de Singapur\u2012 antes de ser nombrado consejero delegado en 2011. Presidi\u00f3 la 68a AGM de la IATA, en Singapur, y desde entonces forma parte del Consejo de Gobierno de la IATA.<\/p>\n

\u201cQuiero expresar mi m\u00e1s sincero agradecimiento a Willie Walsh por su apoyo y liderazgo como presidente del Consejo de Gobierno de la IATA. La visi\u00f3n de Willie fue especialmente \u00fatil cuando comenc\u00e9 mi andadura como consejero delegado. Y ha sido muy satisfactorio el acuerdo hist\u00f3rico CORSIA alcanzado durante su mandato. Willie defiende desde hace tiempo las medidas basadas en el mercado para cumplir nuestro compromiso contra el cambio clim\u00e1tico\u00bb, dijo Alexandre de Juniac, consejero delegado de la IATA.<\/p>\n

La IATA ha anunciado tambi\u00e9n el nombramiento de Akbar Al Baker, consejero delegado de Qatar Airways, como presidente del Consejo de Gobierno de la Asociaci\u00f3n a partir de junio de 2018, tras el t\u00e9rmino del mandato de Goh.<\/p>\n
