Katie Diedrichs<\/strong>, ganadora del Concurso de Viajeros organizado en el marco del A\u00f1o Internacional del Turismo Sostenible para el Desarrollo, 2017, inici\u00f3 oficialmente su viaje tras reunirse con el secretario general de la OMT, Taleb Rifai<\/strong>. A partir de ahora, emprender\u00e1 un viaje inolvidable por seis pa\u00edses diferentes para contarle al mundo c\u00f3mo puede el turismo inducir un cambio positivo.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cViajamos a lugares que respetamos. Respetamos la civilizaci\u00f3n, la historia, la cultura y respetamos la naturaleza, porque al hacerlo, nos respetamos a nosotros mismos y encontramos reservas de amor propio\u00bb, afirm\u00f3 Taleb Rifai, secretario general de la OMT en su encuentro con la ganadora. A\u00f1adi\u00f3 adem\u00e1s: \u00abEn este A\u00f1o Internacional del Turismo Sostenible para el Desarrollo, nuestro mensaje para ti, Katie, y el mensaje que esperamos que transmitas en tus viajes es \u2018VIAJA, DISFRUTA, RESPETA\u2019\u201d.<\/p>\n

La ganadora comenzar\u00e1 un periplo que la llevar\u00e1 de Madrid a\u00a0Colombia<\/a>,\u00a0M\u00e9xico<\/a>, el Emirato \u00c1rabe de\u00a0Ras al-Jaima<\/a>,\u00a0Alemania<\/a>\u00a0y la regi\u00f3n de\u00a0Lem\u00e1n<\/a>\u00a0en Suiza, para terminar su viaje en Ginebra, donde asistir\u00e1 a la ceremonia oficial de clausura del A\u00f1o Internacional el 19 de diciembre. En cada uno de estos lugares, tendr\u00e1 ocasi\u00f3n de conocer a la poblaci\u00f3n local, experimentar nuevas culturas, adentrarse en la naturaleza del lugar, respetar las diferencias y dar ejemplo de c\u00f3mo viajar de manera responsable.<\/p>\n

Katie tendr\u00e1 la oportunidad de ver el mundo, de encontrar inspiraci\u00f3n y aprender de lo que encuentre; a cambio, nos enriquecer\u00e1 con sus historias y experiencias y, sobre todo, ser\u00e1 un ejemplo del poder que puede tener un turista de cambiar con su comportamiento el curso del sector para hacerlo m\u00e1s sostenible y responsable.<\/p>\n
