La Fundaci\u00f3n Pedro y Elena Hern\u00e1ndez A.C. impulsa acciones en la Reserva de la Biosfera R\u00eda Lagartos<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Reserva de la Biosfera R\u00eda Lagartos es un sitio de gran importancia biol\u00f3gica; por su rica biodiversidad, fue declarada sitio Ramsar en 1986, siendo la primera \u00c1rea Natural Protegida (ANP) con esta designaci\u00f3n en M\u00e9xico; brinda refugio a especies como el jaguar (Phantera onca), la tortuga carey (Eretmochelys imbricata) y el flamenco del Caribe\/Americano (Phoenicopterus ruber), entre otras especies. Sin embargo, la fauna silvestre est\u00e1 expuesta a la sobrepoblaci\u00f3n de perros y gatos callejeros, que originan conflictos de salud y ambientales, enfermedades y depredaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Por eso, la Fundaci\u00f3n Pedro y Elena Hern\u00e1ndez A.C., en alianza con dependencias estatales de Yucat\u00e1n, la Reserva de la Biosfera R\u00eda Lagartos, Fundaci\u00f3n Bepensa y el apoyo de la asociaci\u00f3n Help Tulum Dogs, realizaron en la Estaci\u00f3n Biol\u00f3gica Artemia de El Cuyo, Tizim\u00edn, el arranque de la Campa\u00f1a de esterilizaci\u00f3n para perros y gatos dom\u00e9sticos y en situaci\u00f3n de calle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El objetivo principal es promover la disminuci\u00f3n y control de la sobrepoblaci\u00f3n de perros y gatos dom\u00e9sticos o sin due\u00f1o, buscando inculcar una cultura de tenencia responsable e ir reduciendo la poblaci\u00f3n de mascotas abandonadas en poblados al interior del ANP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Todo esto, como parte de las acciones de apoyo a las Playa Platino certificadas, que coadyuvan a reafirmar la protecci\u00f3n de la colonia del flamenco del Caribe y la fauna nativa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
